I’m Anthony, the heart behind NextGen Counselling, and I’m here to walk alongside youths and young adults as they navigate life’s toughest moments. My journey started in Nigeria, where I earned my Bachelor of Education in Guidance and Counselling from Adekunle Ajasin University. Growing up, I saw how mental health challenges often went unspoken, and I knew I wanted to be part of changing that especially for the next generation.

In 2019, I moved to Canada to pursue my Master of Education at Thompson Rivers University in Kamloops, BC, a step that deepened my understanding of mental health and equipped me to support others in a new cultural context. Since then, I’ve worked with diverse communities across British Columbia, from Surrey to Vancouver, helping young people and families facing mental health struggles, substance use, and life transitions.

With roles like Crisis Clinician at Fraser Health Authority and Family Outreach Counsellor with Fraser Valley Aboriginal Children and Family Services Society, I’ve honed my ability to create real, lasting change. I specialize in working with youths and young adults, using practical tools like individual and family therapy, cultural connection, and community advocacy to help them build resilience and find their footing. Whether it’s tackling anxiety, depression, or the uncertainty of growing up, I’m here to listen, guide, and empower.

Beyond my work, I’m passionate about community whether it’s volunteering with the Vancouver Police Department to support public safety initiatives or engaging in cultural practices like healing circles. I believe healing happens when we connect, and I’m committed to being that connection for the young people I serve.
